No, you don't need to be religious. On the Camino you will meet people of many different beliefs. Some are Christian, some are atheist, some are simply spiritual. Nobody will judge you for what you believe. The only real rule is to be respectful of others.

You need to carry some cash. Many small albergues and cafés along the route prefer cash over cards. A common guideline is to bring around €500 in cash for the trip, and to split it between two places instead of keeping it all in one spot. Keep it close to you at night. Cards usually work fine in bigger towns.

It depends on the season and the route. On popular routes, like the Camino Francés, you can usually find a bed without booking ahead, especially outside peak season. In high season, or if you arrive very late in a small town, beds can be harder to find. It helps to stay flexible and be ready to book ahead when needed.

Yes, the main routes are very well marked. You will see yellow arrows and scallop shell signs the whole way. It is very hard to get lost.

A good rule is 10% of your body weight. For example, if you weigh 70 kg, your backpack should weigh around 7 kg. Remember that water adds weight too, up to 1-2 liters. Pack light, and plan to wash clothes along the way instead of carrying many outfits.

No, you don't need to be very fit. What matters most is your pace and how much time you have. Listen to your body and don't rush. Plan your daily distances around that. Most people can walk it if they pace themselves well.
