If you wonder who is behind this page, the honest answer is simple: a pilgrim who walked.

In September 2024, the person behind this community started the Camino Francés with a backpack and no real idea what 37 days on foot would do to them. The walk ended, as it does, in Santiago de Compostela. But it didn't stop there. It carried on to the edge of the world at Fisterra, and further still, to Muxía, where the ocean finally says: that's enough road for now.

That's the story. But this was never meant to be a personal blog. It was meant to become something bigger.

There's a word the anthropologist Victor Turner used to describe what happens to a person mid-pilgrimage: liminal. It comes from the Latin limen, meaning threshold. It describes that strange in-between state where you're no longer quite who you were at home, but not yet who you'll become by the end of the road. Turner called it being "betwixt and between." Neither here nor there. Just walking.

He also described something called communitas: the sudden, almost startling sense of connection that forms between strangers who share that threshold together. Around a shared table, on a shared trail, the usual hierarchies fall away, and something more honest takes their place.

That's what this community is holding onto. Not one person's story, but the space in between. The threshold. The place where pilgrims, all of them, start to feel a little more like each other than they expected.

So who am I? A pilgrim. Like you will be. Like you might already be, even before your first step.
